What does a Super Antioxidant do for me anyway?

To begin its important that you firmly understand what an antioxidant is let alone a super antioxidant. An easy way to get your head around the way an antioxidant works in your body is this; Imagine you have two opposing sides at war with each other. We will label the good guys as Antioxidants and the bad guys are called free radicals. It is actually pretty obvious that when the bad guys attack, if they have more soldiers than you do they might win the fight. But if you have enough good guys to combat them then you win the fight for another day.Usually it’s mano e mano (man on man) or one on one. In other words, if you have one bad free radical that makes his way into your body you would need at least one antioxidant (good guy) to fight him and remove him from the system.

So, then if you don’t supply enough soldiers to take the bad guys out one on one then they overwhelm your soldiers and the result is they start tearing you apart at the cellular level. Which is quite obviously a very bad thing. This process of tearing you down is called oxidation and its somewhat chemically similar to the way metal rusts through oxidation as well. Now on the other hand, if your able to bring in some of the big boys “the super antioxidant” if you will. Then the rules change a quite a bit in your favor. The really powerful Super Antioxidants can neutralize several free radicals at once.

They also have a tremendous amount of antioxidants packed into a very small amount of space. This is how they rate so high on the charts that rate antioxidants and tell you which ones are the strongest and therefore have the greatest amount of firepower to be able to defeat the bad guys army.

The chart that you will see most commonly used to rate the effectiveness of all antioxidants is called an ORAC chart. Which stands for Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity. And just simply indicates how many bad guys can you good guys absorb, neutralize and remove from the body before your life expectancy is gone or used up.The higher the rating on the ORAC chart the more volume of bad guys this particular antioxidant can fight and defeat for you.The way an antioxidant gets to where the crown of super antioxidant is when it is able to beat out its competitors on the chart and rank amongst the very few top antioxidants ever tested. There is no set number such as only the top 5% or 10% can be called a super antioxidant but it’s a pretty safe bet that when you find one with an ORAC above 100,000 units or more then you likely have a winner that you should consider using to help you win the war long term.

The Step by Step Guide to Deploying Employee Satisfaction Surveys

The benefits of conducting an annual employee survey is widely accepted but many organizations have been put off by the amount of effort those annual surveys take to deploy.

Many organizations who have bit the bullet and conducted their own internal employee satisfaction surveys have often relied on word-processors to allow them to design and compile a survey, then gone through the effort of printing and distributing the survey and spent time chasing and collecting the completed surveys and then even more time transferring the survey response information into a meaningful management report.

Fortunately with the introduction of the Internet and hosted survey websites what was once a time consuming, resource hungry, long winded and cumbersome process is now slick, quick and easy.

This document provides a step by step guide to help implement a survey that will bring considerable benefits to any organization.

Step 1 - Identifying the Need

There are many reasons an organization might need a survey. Listed below are a few of the common reason why organizations conduct employee satisfaction surveys.

Event Driven Drivers

If your organization is about to embark, or is going through, a change management program employee surveys can assist in managing the change, measuring the effectiveness of the change, help to deliver a ‘message’ and gather valuable feedback throughout the change cycle.

For organizations that are experiencing rapid growth employee surveys can monitor internal communications and management structures to ensure that employees are aware of their reporting and management responsibilities.

Where an organization is suffering from poor moral brought on by either internal or external influences an employee survey can be used to identify the specific concerns of employees so those concerns can be properly addressed.

An employee survey can help an organization identify the underlying cause of employee unrest that may results in an increase of staff turnover and through the survey findings help find solutions.

Periodically

As part of a periodic assessment, surveys will help an organization review their personnel and monitor on an individual level job satisfaction, training and career development.

Employee surveys offer the senior management the opportunity to look at the soft underbelly of their organization and will help them confirm, or otherwise, that their ‘top down’ view of the organization matches the reality and the ‘bottom up’ perspective.

Employee surveys will help an organization establish good employee/employer communication that will in turn bring direct and indirect benefits.

Step 2 - Management Support

It is always desirable and sometimes essential to have management support for a survey but where a management team might have grown complacent and detached from their employees the survey results may be all that is required to get them to positively reengage with the business and employees.

Some organization may be fortunate in that the senior management recognize and drive the need for employee surveys, while in others the management may need to first be convinced of the direct and indirect benefits an employee survey will bring.

The degree that management commit to an employee survey will have a bearing on the nature of the survey and to some extent will help determine what questions.

A management that is supportive of the initiative may require feedback on specific areas of the business or they may give the go ahead because they feel confident that the results will only confirm that the level of employee satisfaction throughout the organization is high.

Step 3 - Designing The Survey

Designing a good survey will take some time and effort but by following the basics of survey design and concentrating on the ‘need to know’ questions and removing the ‘nice to know’ a survey will rapidly take shape.

Determining the exact questions that should be asked will be entirely dependent on the individual organization, its structure and the previously identified primary need and objectives of the employee survey.

When considering what questions to ask consideration should be given to how the results are to be analyzed. For example there may be a desire to ask for individual comments but these types of answer formats can be very time consuming and cumbersome to analyze and should therefore be avoided or used sparingly.

With online surveys it is generally better to do a few smaller surveys than one very long survey as the longer the survey the higher the drop out rate will be.

Step 4 - Checking And Testing

Grammar, Spelling And Clarity

Before publishing the survey make a careful check for spelling and typing mistakes and incorrect grammar. If available it is always recommended that you have a colleague who has not been involved in the survey design to proof read the survey with clean eyes, if no colleague is available try to take a break before checking through the survey again.

Say What You Mean and Mean What You Say

When checking the survey consider the survey from the respondent’s viewpoint, you may know what you mean by each question but will the employee?

Allow the Respondent to Answer Truthfully

Check that for closed questions where the employee will be required to choose from a number of available responses; have allowed the employee to answer accurately? Make use of responses like ‘No Comment’, ‘Not Applicable’ or ‘Don’t know’ where you want to make the question mandatory so that it is not accidentally missed out but the employee may not be able to answer.

Consider allowing the employee to include an ‘Other’ answer but also appreciate that ‘Other’ answers will add to the complexity when analyzing the survey results.

Don’t Insist on a Response to Questions that may not have one

Check that for any questions that you have made mandatory you do require an answer, for example open questions such as asking for additional comments should be made optional unless you definitely require the respondent to write a comment.

Check that the Data can be Analyzed

Make another check of the survey but this time examine how the results of the survey will be analyzed. Consider how you are likely to want to analyze the survey data, have you asked the right questions to be able to perform detailed analysis? For example if you wanted to view the detailed response data from the perspective of the different genders, or maybe departments, check you have asked the employee to indicate their own gender and/or department.

Don’t Ask More Questions than you Need to

Consider all the questions in the survey and ensure that they are all ‘need to know’ questions.

Test The Link And Try Completing The Survey

Publish the survey and then send the survey’s link to colleagues who will be able to help you test the survey. By completing you own survey yourself you will get a feel for how the respondent will view the survey. From your own and others feedback stop and make adjustments to the survey as required.

Repeat this process until you are happy with the survey.

Check The Data

Take time to view the online summary results of the test data and confirm that the data is being collected in a manner that can be properly analyzed and that will give meaningful results.

Step 5 - Deploying and Promoting the Survey

Where all or the majority of employees have access to the Internet or company intranet deploying the online survey is easy, either via email and/or by establishing a link to the survey from your own website or the Intranet.

Where there are some or many employees that do not have direct access to the internet there are a number of alternatives that can be used from issuing the survey in printed form, providing a shared terminal or giving them an incentive to complete the survey at home.

Step 6 - Monitoring The Survey

While the survey is in progress you are able in to view the real-time results online and the number of surveys that have been both started and completed.

If after a few days the number of completed surveys falls short of any set target it is recommended to send employees one or more reminders to ask them to complete the survey.

Step 7 - Analyzing the Results

There are no hard and fast rules for analyzing the data. Much will depend on the specific survey, the questions that are asked and the number of responses that are received.

When first analyzing survey data often a number of ‘headline’ results will immediately stand out that will provide you with a general overview and, providing the right questions have been asked, give you an instant assessment of the mood throughout the organization as a whole.

Where the results give areas of concern a more detailed analysis may be advisable. For example if employees were asked if they felt the organization provided equal opportunities to both genders it would be useful to have a gender split and if say 25% gave a negative response the ability to drill down further to see what the gender split was of the 25% that answered negatively. Was the negative view shared by employees of both genders, evenly spread throughout the organization, or of a particular gender from a particular department?

Step 8 - Post Survey Action

The most important step is more likely to be the last. The results of an employee survey will either confirm that the perfect organization really does exist or, and more likely, it will by the individual and common concerns that are raised identify the areas that are less than perfect.

It may prove necessary to conduct further, more detailed surveys, to target specific areas. For example the results of a survey may reveal that employees working in a particular department are unhappy, but the reasons for their dissatisfaction may not be clear. A highly focused follow-up survey may help reveal the root causes.

When employee surveys are run on a regular basis an organization that has a track record of addressing the issues highlighted by surveys will see their efforts rewarded in the results of subsequent surveys. Almost all organizations have problems and it helps an organization’s moral to see that a channel exists that will identify problems that can then be addressed and resolved.

Summary

These guidelines are intended to help an organization conduct successful employee satisfaction surveys, they are however, only a guide.

By utilizing existing technology and conducting surveys online you are now able to monitor the heart beat of an organization, quickly, easily and at minimal cost.

The Bright Fruit Hawthorns

Indian currant or coral-berry (Symphoricarpos orbiculatus) is well worth any gardener’s attention. With mathematical exactness the brilliant and abundant fruit is arranged in close and regular clusters along the branches. When the leaves fall the bejewelled plant gleams enticingly for birds. Like the bitter-sweet, it attracts the attention of the migrating birds that are flying overhead.

One of the spectacular trees of autumn is the mountain-ash with its heavy clusters of orange-colored berries. The long compound leaves, with from thirteen to fifteen leaflets, furnish a fringelike setting for the colorful fruit. This beautiful little tree has been brought down from its home on cool mountain slopes to adorn parks and lawns. Often it is planted especially to benefit the birds.

The hawthorns must be included in any list of plants pleasing to birds. The hawthorn that “opes in May,” according to the poet, is generally associated with the flowering of spring. The abundant, bright fruit of autumn is a comfort to migrating birds, and as it lasts through the winter it is food for winter birds.

These thorn trees, as they are generally called, are of dense growth, spreading from the ground and therefore providing ideal nesting sites for many birds. We are often surprised at the preference of certain birds in such matters. The delicate hummingbird builds its thimble-like nest high off the ground on a horizontal limb, while the brown thrasher, loud of voice and assertive in manner. nests in a shrub or thicket. Many small, shy birds, such as the indigo bunting or purple finch, seek low, bushy places.

Trees are important to birds for shelter, nesting sites and food supply; and as many birds have their favorite flower or shrub, so others are devoted to certain trees. The yellow warbler, the pretty little bird of greenish-yellow plumage that is sometimes mistaken for a runaway canary, is devoted to the willow tree, and where you find one you will usually find the other.

Evergreens like zamia plants add elegance to the garden and lawn and are a gathering place for birds both in summer and in winter. In winter when the evergreens are covered with snow they are a cosy igloo for the cheerful chickadee and acrobatic nuthatch. The cones of pine, spruce and fir furnish seeds for the seed-eating visitors of winter, the pine grosbeak and evening grosbeak.

The blue berries of cedar appeal to the cardinal and purple finch, and so attached is the cedar waxwing to the tree that it bears its name, though in summer this politest of marauders is known as the cherry bird.

However one looks at it, from the coldly economic view of services rendered by the birds or the pleasure their presence affords in furnishing color and music and lively movement in the garden, planting for birds is a satisfying and worthwhile garden project.

How to Eat Like a Pig and Never Gain Weight

Yes, it’s true. I eat a lot every day, but never gain weight. How do I do it? You might be surprised. Here are the three simple things I do that let me eat all I want without gaining a pound:

1. I build muscle through daily exercise. I do push ups, pull ups and crunches. Not a lot, mind you. I total about twenty minutes of exercise each day. But that twenty minutes has built up a lot of muscle mass, and for every pound of muscle you build you burn fifty calories a day without having to do any extra exercise.

2. I eat low-fat foods and snacks. I avoid foods that have high fat content, because each gram of fat adds 9 calories, whereas one gram of carbohydrate or protein only adds 4 calories. That’s right — each gram of fat costs you more than twice the calories of carbs or protein while occupying the same amount of space in your stomach. That means you need to eat twice as much fat in order to feel full, but you’re adding a lot more calories.

Don’t get me wrong, though. I don’t eat nuts and twigs! I eat low fat ice-cream, cereal bars, graham crackers and other tasty snacks. Just about any high-fat snack has a low-fat alternative at the grocery store these days. Try them out — you’ll like them!

3. I eat a larger number of smaller meals. Instead of having three big meals, I have three smaller meals and have reasonably healthy snack food in between. Eating smaller meals more often keeps your metabolism working at full speed, which keeps those calories burning all day long.

So there you have it. I eat and eat and eat and never gain weight, because I exercise each day, choose low-fat alternatives for snacks and meals, and eat a larger number of smaller meals throughout the day.

Can Massage Chairs Actually Work?

Massage has been used for a long time to help relieve aches and pains, muscle stiffness and some joint pain. Like many things, if it’s done properly it can work wonderfully, although you may have trouble massaging your own back, if it’s aching. And it costs money. A professional massage can cost 40 and up and for many of us it can be too expensive to have done regularly.

If you can’t afford regular massage, is there any solution to the problem? The benefits of regular massage can be extremely attractive. Well, there are a number of things you could doOne of the easiest and most economical over the long term is to buy one of the many home massage chairs, such as the SBM-500h, especially if you get a Homedics sbm 500h best price.

What a massage chair is for is to give you selectable levels of massage intensity and usually, to add heat to the massage. Different models ,of course have different features, but common to all of them is the concept of zones. There are usually at least a couple of zones of massage, which may be independently switchable and controllable so that you can enjoy the massage in the area where you need it most.

Quality models, like the shiatsu SBM 500H, or Homedics SBM-500H, offer independently controlled back and shoulder massage. Once you’ve experienced the facility to select the area to be massaged, at the flick of a switch, it’s hard to go back to a basic model.

Models with heat output are also lovely to sink into on a cold winter’s day. Relaxing on a chair that gently warms and massages your back combining it with a gentle, de-stressing massage, is a fine way to relax and unwind, after the tension of the day.

If you have any health issues, or joint, back, or heart problems, consult your doctor for professional advice before self-administering any massage.

How Do I Know Which King Foam Mattress to Choose?

Selecting the right king size mattress is a difficult decision that can have a great impact on your life. If you buy a mattress of poor quality you can end up having a restless night of sleep which will cause you to feel fatigued and grump during the day. Take your time and select the mattress that is right for you.

Foam technology was actually developed by NASA back in the 70’s and after they discarded the concept the medical industry took an interest in it. The thought was the foam cushioning would help prevent pressure sores amongst hospital patients. Eventually as the foam technology improved and overcame obstacles with durability and cracking it led to the production of household mattresses with foam tops similar to that found on a king pillow top mattress in the 90’s. Today you can buy a whole king foam mattress that utilizes the latest technology in foam.

Things To Know About Purchasing A King Foam Mattress.

Buying a king mattress is surely easier than looking for home security surveillance products. Memory foam adjusts to your weight when you lay down. This provides proper cushioning to all parts of your body allowing you sleep through the night. If your partner has the tendency to toss and turn while sleeping which causes you to wake up, a king foam mattress would be a great solution. As the foam adjusts to your body weight, the tossing and turning of your partner will go undetected by you because their portion of the mattress is absorbing the motion.

A king foam mattress will absorb your body heat and as a result the foam will become softer. As the foam warms to your body temperature its ability to contour increases which will help to provide a better night’s sleep. When selecting a foam mattress you will want to make sure it has some sort of built in air exchange system to prevent your mattress from becoming uncomfortably hot.

Look at the density of king foam mattresses. Higher quality mattresses will typically have a density of greater than 5 lbs. While some people prefer the softness of a lower density mattress keep in mind that the denser foam will hold its form better and for a longer period of time.

Avoid selecting a king foam mattress where the price tag appears to be too good to be true. Chances are it is. Cheaper foam mattresses tend to be less durable and wear much quicker. Check to make sure that the foam isn’t combined or filled with any other material. A king size mattress is definitely a very important element of a house, along with many other home decor and furniture.

While the cost of a king foam mattress is still high their recent popularity is introducing new suppliers into the market. Very slowly the prices of foam mattresses have begun to drop.

5 Weight Loss Tips to Drop the Pounds Faster

In order to lose weight quickly and in a healthy manner, it’s important that you change your lifestyle, not just go on a short-term diet. Here are five great tips you can use to improve your lifestyle and drop those pounds faster.

1. Stay away from buffets. A recent study showed that the more choices you have, the more you’ll consume — simply because the food is available.

2. Get enough calcium. A study from Creighton University examined the effects of calcium on weight loss and found that women who got 1,000 mg of calcium each day actually weighed about 20 lbs less than the other women. Be careful, though: if you use dairy products to get calcium, be sure they are the low-fat or no-fat variety or it will backfire on you.

3. Write it down (honestly). Keeping a food diary lets you see exactly how much you’re consuming each day so that you can make adjustments where needed. That’s great, but if you fudge the truth and write down less than you’re actually eating it won’t help you. A recent study showed that women who were keeping a food diary were actually recording about 1,000 calories less than they were actually consuming.

4. Put it in a glass (or bowl or cup, etc.). Don’t drink liquids straight out of the container, and don’t eat snacks out of the box. Measure what you eat and drink to ensure proper portion control.

5. Bulky clothes only make you look bulky. Don’t try to mask your weight by wearing clothes that are too big for you. It has the opposite effect.

Tinnitus Victims Must Avoid Loud Noises

If you are experiencing tinnitus it would be a very good idea for you to start protecting your ears and hearing. The easiest way for you to achieve this is to shun very loud noises.

The Cause Of Your Tinnitus Will Aggravate it Further

Although conditions like stress, anxiety, sinus problems and allergies can cause ringing in the ears, by far the most causes of tinnitus is from damage to the cochlea in the inner ear

This is often caused by continual exposure to noises at the workplace or sudden loud noises.

If you have constant exposure to loud noise, or run the risk of exposure, consider these tips:

1. Wear noise cancelling head protection.

2. Don’t have the volume too loud at home and don’t sit near speakers when playing your music.

3. Going to a pub or club, make surte to take your earplugs. Especially at concerts and clubs. Loud noise may be uncomfortable to many tinnitus sufferers. Be sure to let your family know this. That way, they know better than to turn up the volume or to scream too close to you. Having a support group of family and friends can help, too.

Where Are The Loud Noises? Where are the loud noises you experience often? Do any of these locations cause you to feel uncomfortable?

• A public restaurant or bar, especially those that are crowded

 • IPods and earphones

• Yelling and shouting at home

• Sports events especially crowded events like professional games

Does this mean that you cannot enjoy life the way you like to? No, but you just need to take extra precautions to do so.

Think before possibly exposing your delicate ears to loud noises. Consider this, you get tickets to a basketball game. Pack the plugs… Look it is possible you won’t need them, but if you do, use them. They are so simple to use and nobody sees them in any event.

Seeking out holistic forms of treatment can make living with tinnitus easier to do You can ensure that the tinnitus levels do not increase by avoiding loud noises and wearing protection at noisy places. Treat the condition using all natural methods that will not worsen it like some medications.

The information provided is for researching purposes only. No medical advice is meant. As with any condition it is recommended for you to consult a health professional before taking any medical advice.
